Curriculum

All subjects in one

Why take your child first to sports lessons, then to art classes and finally to music lessons, when you can get everything in one place?

The subjects taught at Dibi academy are Arts, Music, Sport, Math and Nature. Each subject has a dedicated Dibidog character as an expert to help the children in problem solving and learning.

ARTS

MUSIC

SPORT

NATURE

MATH

The broad variety of subjects enables us to teach the “hard skills” which the children will need in each age. Our goal is to provide a solid holistic development – and not to practice separate specific skills. We practice fine and gross motor skills, musical and artistic skills, logical thinking and mathematical skills and we give environmental knowledge about flora, fauna and sustainable living. Each lesson has a major and minor subject. Most often two or more skills are practised together; i.e. math and sports.

In our method the learning becomes deeper, because different themes and phenomena are studied from different aspects, through different subjects.  All subject-specific skills are practiced in a natural way – during fun activities, games and play, while diving into the theme of the lesson.

Soft skills

In addition to the hard skills (musical, artistic, motor, environmental and mathematical skills) we place special emphasis on soft skills. Soft skills are communication, cooperation, creativity and problem-solving skills, which will be all the more important in future working life where people have to compete with AI machines. That is why these skills are also called 21st century skills.

Children can learn soft skills from very early on, if given the right kind of teaching and stimuli. Our classes are built in a way which supports

  • group activity (cooperation and communication skills)

  • exploration and discovery (problem-solving skills)

  • learning by doing (creativity and adaptability skills).

The phenomenon-based teaching method supports this, since children have an active role as constructors of the lesson, thus utilizing soft skills continuously.

Babies Curriculum (aged 2–23 months)

Babies curriculum consists Arts, Music, Communication and Gym. They are combined to a meaningful, caretaking and inspiring whole that supports the baby’s development as a social being and the parent’s closer contact with the baby.

Learning goals for the babies include awakening of inspiration and excitement, stretching the boarders of the experience field and activating the senses. At the same time parents learn new ways to communicate with the baby and enjoy the company of the young life to the fullest.

All lessons are given in English and translated into the local language as needed. Such an early training gives great support to future language learning ability because babies automatically acquire sounds and melody patterns of the English.

Relaxed and inspired relationship between the parents and the baby in our classes can become a meditative moment, which can be repeated at home as often as wished.

Kids Curriculum (aged 2–5 years)

Dibi Academy’s curriculum for kids consists of five subjects: Arts, Music, Sport, Nature and Math. The learning goals are matched to age-relevant skills.

All subjects support each other in a way that enables wide-spanning creative thinking which is strengthened with multiple, changing themes throughout the year.  Social group skills, communication and creativity has very important role in our education and all teaching emphasizes playfulness, innovation and environmental awareness.

Every lesson is held in English and translated into the local language as needed. Both English and international communication culture are easy to learn for children and our method makes use of these abilities.

At Dibi Academy, the child will gain information and experiences from a broad variety of interest areas at every age.
